Data Centers in Hamilton County TN

Target: Hamilton County Commission

Success! Primary ask: Hamilton County Commissioners vote YES on the one-year data center moratorium on July 15, 2026. *(The Commission Voted yes on 7/15/26) Secondary ask: Commissioners amend the resolution so the Jailhouse Studios exemption cannot be used as a template for future "small footprint" carve-outs — e.g. a hard, audited square-footage/power cap with public reporting, not a self-certified limit and cap it hard enough that it can't be used as a precedent for the next "small" exemption. Standing ask (post-vote): during the pause, the Planning Department's TVA/EPB/water-provider consultations should be public record, not a closed-door study.

Chattanooga Pays

Target: xAI

Target Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and xAI at their most vulnerable pressure point: the gap between their public sustainability commitments and their actual TVA-powered reality. Unlike conventional utility campaigns that are slow and technical, this one has recognizable corporate villains with public climate pledges — and a victim with a face: the Chattanooga household.

Project River Data Center

Target: Project River

Project River is a $11.3 billion industrial campus and data center project proposed for 850 acres along the Hiwassee River in Bradley County, Tennessee. Developers say it will be behind the meter, produce it's own energy and water, but there hasn't been independent verification about the environmental impact.

Reproductive Health 2026

Target: Meta (Facebook/Instagram)

Women's reproductive health is under threat. There are potential limits to varieties of contraception to restrictions on IVF. Reproduction isn't just a women's issue. Men bear 50% of the responsibility. Women should be able to make choices about their reproductive health.

Make Campaign Finance Clear and Fair

Digital Sovereignty & Human Labor

Target: Upwork

Based on the research of Karen Hao (Empire of AI), we are witnessing a new era of colonialism. Big AI companies (The "Empires") are performing a global land, data, and labor grab. They take your intellectual property without payment, exploit a new hidden working class of "data annotators," and drain local power grids to fuel their "Rockets." It’s time to stop being a "Data Donor" and start being a Digital Citizen.

Improve Childhood Vaccine Confidence

Target: TikTok (ByteDance US)

A growing number of parents are distrustful about vaccinations. This is leading to an increase in bleeding deaths of infants due to refusal of vitamin K shots to raise clotting ability. Vaccine hesitance has lead to measles outbreaks as well.

Education

The Textbook Racket

Target: McGraw Hill

The Edition Churn Publishers release new editions every 2–3 years with minimal content changes — reordered chapters, renumbered problems — specifically to invalidate the used book market. A student who buys last year's copy for $30 arrives to class with the wrong edition. The Bundle Trap Required homework platforms (MindTap, WebAssign, Connect) are bundled with textbooks and cannot be purchased separately. The access code expires at semester end. The used copy of the book is worthless without a new code — which costs nearly as much as the original bundle. The Subscription Shift Publishers are now phasing out print ownership entirely in favor of annual digital subscriptions. Students who graduate own nothing — no reference library, no resale value, no access to the materials they paid for.
